Vacation on an organic farm in Saalfelden Leogang

We warmly welcome you to our organic farm in Saalfelden Leogang. Our farm combines traditional organic farming, the rental of vacation apartments, a small sawmill and a distillery to create a lively and diverse family business.

Our farm enjoys a fantastic secluded location at 800m above sea level at the foot of the Biberg in Saalfelden. Enjoy relaxing days surrounded by nature and leave everyday life behind. We look forward to welcoming you personally to Hinterburghof soon!

Organic farming

We are Sabrina and Stefan Krahbichler, and together with our daughters Lara and Elisa, we are running Hinterburghof in the 5th generation with a lot of love and dedication. We operate our organic farm on a small and extensive scale. Over the winter, we feed about 30 heifers from regional farmers and our own oxen. Our heifers spend the summer on a communal alpine pasture, and our oxen are on the pastures around our farm all summer long. Furthermore, in the summer we ensure sufficient feed for the winter with the hay harvest. In addition to the cattle, we also have goats, rabbits, cats and a small flock of chickens that fill the farm with life.

Vacation apartments

As part of a farm vacation, we welcome our guests to the three lovingly renovated vacation apartments. We are particularly proud of the newly built “Schwalbenwand” apartment, into which a lot of personal effort has been invested.

Sawmill

Stefan also runs a small sawmill. With his “Wood-Mizer” band saw, he produces boards, posts, etc. from local wood for regional carpentry businesses. Furthermore, surrounding farmers can also have their wood cut by us in what is known as contract cutting.

Distillery

We at Hinterburghof have a historical “Maria Theresia Concession” for distilling schnapps, the origin of which dates back to the imperial era. Our fruit and berries are harvested when fully ripe, carefully processed, and gently distilled in winter after 12 to 16 weeks of fermentation. Our distillery consists of a classic copper-stainless steel still with wood firing, which combines tradition and craftsmanship.

The distillates and liqueurs are stored in the dark vaulted cellar until we or our guests enjoy them. Cheers!
